Justice IL Homes and Real Estate

Justice real estate offers single family homes, condos and townhomes. Justice also offers one of the largest mobile home parks in the area called Sterling Estates. Justice also has a smaller mobile home park called Chief Trailer Park. Sterling Estates offers used and brand new mobile homes in a very large park with many amenities including a pool, clubhouse and exercise facilities.

Like all of the established communities in this area, Justice has little new construction available. Most of the new homes are built by individual builders on existing land.

Justice IL Real Estate Sales Statistics

Justice Illinois

The village of Justice Illinois doesn't actually border on Oak Lawn but is sometimes part of real estate searches I do for clients interested in the general area. The estimated population for Justice in 2004 is 12,649 residents. It comprises approximately 2.9 square miles.

Justice IL offers close access to I-294 and I-55 (the Stevenson expressway). Because of quick access to I-55 you can probably get to Chicago's downtown area quicker from Justice than from Oak Lawn (approximately 20 minutes).

Justice Folklore

Many might not realize that Resurrection Cemetery is located in Justice. For years I always thought it was actually in Willow Springs. Most have probably heard about Resurrection Mary, a famous ghost that was supposedly at Willow Springs' O'Henry Ballroom, now known as The Willowbrook Ballroom.

One story has it that she left the ballroom after having a fight with her boyfriend and was struck by a car going down Archer Avenue. She was buried in Resurrection Cemetery at 7201 Archer Ave. in Justice Illinois. There are many stories of Mary wandering down Archer Ave. and getting picked up as a hitchhiker asking to be dropped off at the cemetery, only to vanish in thin air.

My friend claims Mary was a relative named Mary Bregovy. Her story, passed on by her late grandmother, was that Mary was underage and borrowed my friend's grandmother's ID on the night of her prom. In this story there was a car accident and Mary died and never made it to the prom. That is why she keeps hitchhiking, or traveling on foot, to and from the Willowbrook Ballroom.

However, there are some that dispute that Mary Bregovy, who is buried in Resurrection Cemetery, is the famous ghost and there are all sorts of different ideas of who Mary really was. This story should have put Justice on the map but, as I mentioned, the story doesn't always promote the fact that Resurrection Cemetery is located in the village of Justice.
