Hometown is a small town tucked away between Chicago city limits, Burbank, Evergreen Park and Oak Lawn. It resides on .5 square mile and is bordered by 87th St. to the north, Pulaski to the east, approximately 90th Pl. to the south and Cicero to the West and is cut in the middle by Southwest Highway.
2000 Census figures show Hometown Illinois as having a population of 4,467 residents. Hometown was incorporated on June 6, 1953 and was created specifically as affordable housing for war veterans.

Hometown real estate comprises mostly duplex style residences. These are two separate living areas with different addresses that are joined by one shared wall. They were originally built as 2 or 3 bedroom, 1 bath ranch style homes. When you drive through Hometown today you'll notice many types of additions expanding the ranch style or adding a second level.
The last I heard there are 7 single family residences in Hometown. I have sold two of them over the years.
Hometown duplexes offer land ownership which gives you the chance to have your own fenced yard. Most Hometown duplexes have a garage with a side drive. Hometown offers small-town living with close access to Chicago's downtown area and Midway Airport. Streets are paved and there area sidewalks and street lights. Hometown uses Lake Michigan water and has a public sewer system.
Hometown has a large strip mall with some stores and professionals. The closest shopping mall would be Ford City Mall.
Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn is about 5 minutes or less away, depending where you live in Hometown.Although Hometown has it's own police department, volunteer fire department and library, it also shares some facilities with Oak Lawn and has close access to major shopping, dining and entertainment in surrounding areas.
